Yup, a new gamemode is in the works. I'm looking for a way to capture the essence of the old opens with a respawn mechanic, and in a way does not require to overhaul our maps completely.
This king of the hill is nice, I still think. It would require a bit of thinking, the respawn mechanic should be completely different than the last attempt. Especially in a way that prevents spawnkill, for instance respawn should only happen when the zone is detected as safe from enemy presence. Also, maybe you should be able to respawn soldiers one at a time (e.g. you get one soldier back every 2 minutes or so, and he would be paratrooped ).
When it comes to the point system I quite like your king of the hill idea. And that's the best part the reinforcement mode is structured very similarly, and would require little changes to make it work here. At least at first glance.
I'm starting to work on it, and maybe we can have something working in the beta test version by next week.
Any further suggestions/ideas are welcome.
