Why Test releases?
We already do internal testing before any release of course. However, we are bound to miss bugs (even obvious ones sometimes). 24-48 hours before we want to release an official update we will push out a new release candidate.
If no major bugs surface in the 24-48 hour period we will continue release. Any bugs that are spotted we either try to fix them in time for the official release or a new test release, postpone the release or decide they aren't enough of a priority to fix right away.
At this stage, games played in the test version will count as official points, even for regiment games.
POST YOUR FEEDBACK IN THIS THREAD!
Here are the things to keep an eye on and give us feedback before we make it a live version:
v0.67-test - 8th April 2016
- Sniper is in da house. Gameplay-wise, it's still quite experimental, we will need as much feedback from you as possible since we're still figuring out exactly how it should work, especially when it comes to accuracy, but also controls and gameplay, so I'll break this into two bullet points:
- Control and gameplay: the sniper has two modes: normal and sniper. In sniper mode (hotkey: "m"), the sniper can see quite further than other soldiers, but his field of view is dramatically reduced. In normal mode, the sniper fires from the hip, so his accuracy is actually lower than the rifleman but his field of view is normal. The problem is that you need to know that you have to switch to sniper mode, otherwise you have a very underwhelming sniper.
- Accuracy and fire: in scoped mode the sniper has much higher hit chance at long distance than the rifleman, but his aiming time is also much longer. At closer range, the sniper should have lower hit chance than the rifleman, but still quite long aiming time.
- We've made the strategic view prettier, in preparation for more prettiness and functionalities (and also a trailer, the strategic view has to look pretty for it). But can be buggy sometimes, we working on it.
